Picture of Albert Son

Albert earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at UT Austin. There, he first became interested in science while studying transcription factors that regulate early cell-fate decisions in embryonic stem cells under Dr. Jonghwan Kim. Prior to joining as an MSTP student at UT Southwestern, Albert also worked in the lab of Dr. Stephen Chung, investigating the role of hematopoietic stem cells in the development of myeloid malignancies. He joined the Tagliabracci Lab in 2025, driven by a desire to learn about novel protein mechanisms throughout nature.

When he is not in lab, Albert enjoys the outdoors, whether that is in the form of hiking, fishing, sports, or traveling. He is a fan of the Texas Rangers, Texas BBQ, and a bunch of other things he cannot remember at the time of this writing.
